Ved Prakash Kamboj (1 December 1939 – 6 November 2024) was one of the most influential figures in Hindi pulp and detective fiction. Born in Shahdara, Delhi, his literary journey began at the youthful age of eighteen with the release of his debut novel Kangoora (1958), which captured readers' imagination and marked the start of a remarkable career.

Over the ensuing decades, Kamboj produced a staggering volume of work—more than 400 novels and 200 short stories—solidifying his reputation as one of the most prolific authors in the genre. His detective fiction, particularly the adventures of Vijay-Raghunath, Alfānse, and Singhī, became cultural touchstones for readers craving suspense and excitement.
